Western North Region

The Western North Region is one of six new Ghanaian regions established in 2019. The region is bounded on the west by the Ivory Coast (Comoé District), on the southeast by the Central region, and on the north by the Ashanti, Ahafo, Bono East, and Bono regions. The Western North Region of Ghana has the most rainfall in Ghana, as well as lush green hills and fertile soils. In the region, there are numerous small and large-scale gold mining companies. The Sefwis are the region’s dominant ethnic group. Sefwi, Akan, French, and English are the most commonly spoken languages.
